Our ESG efforts
As a family business with roots dating back to 1946, OJM takes responsibility for the environment, employees, and good corporate governance. We specialize in precision machining of cast iron, steel, aluminum, and red brass products for leading global manufacturers. Our ESG report from 2024 reflects
our efforts in sustainability and social responsibility.
Environmental responsibility
Reducing climate footprint
We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint through optimized resource utilization and increased energy efficiency. The operation
of production machinery accounts for the majority of our energy consumption,
and we continuously invest in modern technology that reduces the environmental impact.
Circular economy
We prioritize the recycling of materials, especially iron, which both saves natural resources and reduces the environmental impact of extracting new raw materials. Ninety-five per cent of our machines are resold after use for other production purposes,
and metal shavings from production are sent to foundries where they are remelted and recycled.
Resource optimization
In 2024, OJM invested in two large state-of-the-art, fully automated production facilities. They make our production competitive, efficient, reduce waste, and optimize resource consumption.
OJM is positioning itself in the market as a serious partner with our customers, so we can deliver at the highest level.
Future initiatives
We are investigating the possibility of collecting rainwater for use in production and plan to use our 4,500 m² outdoor area to promote biodiversity by planting trees, shrubs, and flowers to attract wildlife.
Social responsibility
Our employees
Our team of 33 employees (25 men and 8 women) have an average seniority of 7 years. We are proud to have employees who have celebrated their 40-year anniversaries, which is a testament to our strong working community.
Diversity and inclusion
Thirty to forty per cent of our employees come from countries such as Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, and Poland. We actively work to create an inclusive workplace where everyone feels respected and has the opportunity to grow, regardless of background and nationality.
Health and safety
We prioritize a safe working environment with clear procedures for the use of protective equipment and safety measures. Our employees are offered health insurance with access to psychological care, dietician, and physiotherapy.
Competence development
We invest in continuing education and training for our employees, especially when there are technological developments. This ensures that our team
is well prepared for the demands and challenges of the future.
Good corporate governance
Values and culture
Our company culture is built on relationships, trust, credibility, and integrity. We emphasize open dialogue and ethical business practices,
which have been at the core of OJM for generations.
ESG anchoring in management
The strategic responsibility for ESG is anchored at top management level, and our Environment and Quality Committee has expanded its remit
to include ESG. The committee meets 5-6 times a year to ensure that strategic decisions and objectives are met.
Code of Conduct
We have developed a Code of Conduct that sets clear guidelines for ethical business conduct both internally and with our suppliers. This includes fair working conditions, respect for human rights, and
responsible use of resources.
Future perspectives
Our ESG report from 2024 forms the baseline for our further work with sustainability. Although we have not yet set specific reduction targets for 2025, we are developing concrete actions in four strategic areas:
